My everyday make-up products

Cropped Pallet

Hello there! I hope you’re all well. I’m very excited to be writing about this topic. I’m not a make-up guru, but I love a fresh-faced look. For me, full make-up is for special occasions because I’m still quite the tomboy at heart and my make-up skills suck a bit. I’m still learning.

My go to daily look is minimalist. I use a neutral palette for my eyelids, a bold eye and play around with lipstick colours.

I start off with a clean canvas (check out the post if you haven’t yet) and follow that with a primer. I find it very difficult to find the right primer for my skin. As I’ve mentioned before, I have combination skin with a very oily T-zone. I like a primer to be able to mattify and minimise pores. I currently use the smashbox photo finish primer to smooth out my skin and create a matte canvas. I’d like to mention two other primers: the smashbox pore minimizing primer is okay. I feel that it doesn’t do a great job of absorbing oil though and it flakes quite a bit. It’s okay for winter but in summer my skin needs total oil control and this doesn’t cut it. Then there’s the Palladio foundation primer which for me, SUCKS. It was a waste of my money. It feels too heavy and doesn’t do a good job of mattifying or minimising my pores. This was one buy never to be repeated.

On days when I feel I need coverage, I use the MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation. I love its matte, even coverage without the “caked-on” look. For my everyday look however, I just use the Revlon Photoready Skinlights, followed by powder for a even, matte and fresh finish. My two powders of choice are: Mac Pro Longwear Pressed Powder and the BlackUp Pressed Powder. I love both powders and the choice of which I use on any given day is largely based on which I find first. I do use a concealer under my eyes and a powder to set it. The L.A. Girl Pro Conceal and the Ben Nye Banana powder are my dynamic duo for all day wear.

At the moment I’m loving the L.A. Girl Blush Collection in Spice. The pallet comes with a matte blush, a shimmery blush, a bronzer and a highlighter. The colours are muted for everyday wear and the highlighter is everything!

Coming to my eyes, in keeping with the neutral, muted tones, I love to add some peachy bronze, and other subtle colours. Again, L.A. Girl comes through  with their Eyeshadow Collection in Nudes. This is like every single eyeshadow I’ve loved for creating everyday looks, in one pallet. You could also easily create smokey looks with this too, but that’s for another post. For my eyes, I love a bold, thick, dark liner and the Almay Intense iColour eyeliner does the job. It glides on smoothly  leaving a very black, solid colour. I love it! (I can’t include the picture because mine has been so abused, that all writing has come off it).

I’ve done microblading on my eyebrows (will do a post on this later) and this helps to maintain the right shape and arch to my brows. To define them, I use the Eyelure Brow Palette in dark brown. It has the dark brown “gel” which I use for the tail end of my brows, then the brown powder to fill in the rest of my brows and end off with the light powder to create a clean finish. This I do using angled brushes.

To finish off, I love a great lip. I pair each lipstick with a matching liner, to improve definition and wear. Depending on my mood, I go from very neutral colour to some bold colour. Most of my lippies are matte and longwearing. here are my go to for everyday wear:

From left of the screen to right, we have:

Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suade in colour 005 (Muse). This goes on semi-matte and last a very, very long time. You’ll need a slightly darker liner for this one and a few coats.

Essence Velvet Matt in colour 24. This is also matte and last a reasonable amount of time. You’ll need to retouch after your cup of coffee.

Mac Sheen Supreme Lipstick in Insanely It. My second favorite lipstick. It goes on beautifully and has a sheen to it, as the name suggests.  It also feels very moisturising.

Next is the Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balm in Ingenue. This feels like lip balm with just a touch of shimmer.

On days when I want full on gloss, I use the Smashbox Be Legendary Long-wear Lip Lacquer (jeez, what a name!!!) in After Dark. It is basically a along wearing lipgloss.

Lastly my favourite, the Revlon Ultra HD Matte LipColor in Passion. Firstly, it smells devine. Secondly it last through your morning cup of coffee. The matte, rich colour is everything! It doesn’t dry out my lips at all and I don’t need to constantly reapply the colour. Definitely a firm favorite of mine.

That’s it from me for now. Shazz sending love and light…
