I’ve been on glorious holiday and I’m so sad it’s come to an end. My family and I went down to the coast, Indian Ocean was warm as usual but we had a few days of rain. I was loving the endless cocktails though. So today’s post is all about my beach bag must haves.
As a disclaimer, I’m not a lover of the sun, so when I’m at the beach I’m in the shade. Plus a little tip: when at the beach, gently rubbing beach sand all over your body is a great exfoliator. It leaves a beautiful glow and smooth skin all over. You won’t be able to resist toughing it.
First product: Estee Lauder DayWear Matte. This is a mattifying moisturiser (two of my favourite things). It leaves the skin totally hydrated but still completely matte. It applies easily, absorbs quickly into the skin and smells amazing. My favourite things about this is that although it mattifies, it does not dry out at all. It won’t leave you with that taut feeling. I got mine from Red Square for approximately R620.
Then there’s the Estee Lauder Double Wear Powder. This works well with the DayWear moisturiser. It goes on velvety smooth and although it transfers quite easily onto clothes, it stays in place. Not my favourite powder but it does a really good job. It may still grow on me yet… It performed well in the heat and humidity though, which is important when you’re lounging at the beach. Got this from Red Square for R595.
Next up is the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Colour. I have to start off by just mentioning that this stuff smells like ice-cream and I love that about it. Like most matte lip colours, this can be quite drying if you don’t exfoliate and pre-moisturise your lips. (I’ll do a post on all this at some point). But on a well prepared lip, this is awesome. It’s a beautiful nude hue (colour is Seduction) which is perfect for a laid back beach look. I got mine from Dischem for R165.
Fragrance is YSL Black Opium. This is a rich scent, very powerful and sexy! I just had to add it in there, but I’m going to do a post especially about perfumes. I love this fragrance though and it lasts all day…
Lastly: what is a beach holiday without sunscreen? I love my Dermafix SPF 50 Sunscreen (R210). What I love most about it is that it is a SPF50 AND it is matte. No grease. No shine. Heaven! I really like how it looks and feels. Most sunscreens leave a grey-ish tint on the skin, but this one just leaves the skin matte and smooth. By far my favourite sunscreen.
That’s it from me for this week. I know I promised a post about gadgets, but I will do this soon. Promise. Shazz, sending you love and light.
